The Doctors Riesling 2006
Our first “The Doctors” Riesling is drawn from four vineyards located throughout the Wairau Valley. Whilst each vineyard has free draining, devigorating soils, each possessed its own unique terroir and gave a distinctive character to the fruit and wine. The perfect vintage climatic conditions allowed us to harvest the grapes when their flavour tasted ideal for this very Germanic style of wine.

Tasting Notes
Our prescription for the good of your mind, body and soul. Made in the German Kabinett style, with only 8.5% alcohol, 36g/l residual sugar and balanced by a low pH – 2.94 and high natural acidity 8.4g/l. A truly delightful wine for any time of day, perhaps most ideal at lunchtime. I love the poise and balance of this wine – lemon blossoms, golden delicious apple, and a touch of sweetness balanced by fine acidity.

VITICULTURE

Vintage 2006 was a vintage very much influenced by a lovely warm early summer resulting in an early veraison and then a cooler March-April vintage period which slowed ripening and allowed time for that all important flavour development. Without doubt the easiest vintage we have experienced for many years with superbly ripe fruit across the entire range of grape varietals.
